CGCC’s First Blog Post and a Huge “Thank You”!

Last month was a flurry of activity and busy-ness around the CGCC building. We had our first couple of work days, and there was a small army of volunteers from Summerside Community Church who descended upon the property. They worked tirelessly in the sweltering heat; cutting back overgrown bushes and trees, cleaning up the garden, and do some repairs to our building.

Inside, we had a crew scrubbing and cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom, painting our office and the auditorium stage, and helping us get organized. It was so very incredible to see our brothers and sisters roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

What a blessing!

To show our appreciation we had a potluck on Saturday, August, 26th, where everyone got to fellowship together, enjoy some delicious food, and relax. Having all these people in the auditorium, the sounds of laughter, and children playing… it felt like, well, church.

The day after our potluck, we had the opportunity to lay out our “Next Steps”, our fundraising goals, and to solicit the prayers and support of our sending church, Summerside Community Church. The response was incredible, and Derek and I had some amazing one-on-one conversations with people who felt the Lord leading them to help out in whatever way they could. Providentially, there were some folks from outside our church who were able to hear our heart for this mission, some who lived in the neighbourhood and others who minister in other parts of the city. God is good!

Folks, we really need your prayers right now. As we head out to reach the other churches in London and beyond, can you please be praying that others see and feel the weight of this mission and that God calls out other brothers and sisters to come alongside us in helping to establish a church here in Chelsea Green. Also be praying for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those with whom we will have contact here in the neighbourhood.

Already, there has been quite a bit of interest and excitement generated from all the work done around the building. This is great! But it’s not just about having a nice garden, or spiffy new paint job… it’s about Jesus.

It’s about boasting in His free gift of forgiveness!

It’s about the saving grace of our Lord.

It’s about the forgiveness, mercy, and love God extends to sinners.

We want CHRIST to be the foundation of our church here in Chelsea Green.

We truly desire that the Good News of Jesus Christ has an impact on every individual and family in our ‘hood. It’s a lofty goal, but we serve a might God! Pray BIG!
