Vision & Practice

We exist as a church to see the Good News of Jesus Christ have an impact in lives of our neighbours.

The following three “pillars” serve as the foundation for how we live out this mission as followers of Jesus Christ…

Seeking the Lost: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10

We aim to seek the lost in Chelsea Green through personal engagement with our neighbours, community events, and evangelistic efforts. Our aim is to reach those people in Chelsea Green who do not yet know the forgiveness, love, grace, and mercy of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We want to be visible and active participants in the everyday life of Chelsea Green, serving our neighbours where they live, work, and play.

Grow Together in Christ: “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

As followers of Christ, we are called to grow in our love, faith, and knowledge of Jesus. This is a lifelong process and it isn’t done in isolation. It is accomplished through the everyday, life-on-life reality of a group of Jesus followers living and practicing the “One Another” verses found throughout the New Testament. We aim to provide an environment at CGCC where people can come to experience and know Jesus through gospel-centred preaching, fellowship, and community.

Build our Community: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

We love Chelsea Green. As Christians, we look out into the world, see how it once was in the beginning, and how it will be when Christ returns. Our aim is to build a community of believers that reflects the future and eternal kingdom of God in the here and now. We advocate for the voiceless, invest in fellow image-bearers of God, and walk alongside those who are broken, because that’s what Jesus did.

Statement of Faith

As a member of the Ontario and Quebec Regional Chapter of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches (FEBCentral Ministries), we adhere to the set of shared beliefs expressed below.

We believe that salvation is by the sovereign, electing grace of God; that by the appointment of the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a vicarious, expiatory and propitiatory death; that justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those whom God has effectually called shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected in the image of the Lord.

FUTURE THINGS

THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that a church is a company of immersed believers, called out from the world, separated unto the Lord Jesus, voluntarily associated for the ministry of the Word, the mutual edification of its members, the propagation of the faith and the observance of the ordinances. We believe it is a sovereign, independent body, exercising its own divinely awarded gifts, precepts and privileges under the Lordship of Christ, the Great Head of the church. We believe that its officers are pastors and deacons.

ORDINANCES

We believe that there are only two ordinances for the church regularly observed in the New Testament in the following order: – Baptism, which is the immersion of the believer in water, whereby he obeys Christ’s command and sets forth his identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. – The Lord’s Supper, which is the memorial wherein the believer partakes of the two elements, bread and wine, which symbolize the Lord’s body and shed blood, proclaiming His death until He comes.
